The Food and Drug Administration is stepping up checks of eateries selling raw fish after a Bangkok restaurant sold salmon tainted with a bacteria that made more than 10 diners sick.
The alert came after the Bangkok Metropolitan Administration issued an order on Jan 25 to district offices to inspect restaurants and food halls offering Japanese sashimi and sushi.
The BMA earlier discovered diners had contracted food poisoning after eating at a Japanese restaurant
The BMA’s Health Department took food samples from several restaurants and conducted lab tests. It found some samples to be tainted with the Vibrio cholerae bacteria, which causes cholera.
